About 3rd Skipton
3rd Skipton Scout Group restarted in 2021 after the pandemic with 4 Cubs. It now has 4 active Sections - Squirrels (age 4-6), Beavers (age 6-8), Cubs (age 8 - 10.5) and Scouts (age 10.5 - 14). It feeds Scouts to both South Craven and Ingleborough District Explorer Units.
All but two of the Leaders who are now with 3rd Skipton had no previous role in the Group and so most Leaders are new to Scouting.
As well as the usual Scouting activities of camping, hiking, fundraising etc, we also try to participate in as many community activities as possible e.g. Skipton Gala, Skipton Sheep Day, Skipton Santa Fun Run, Grassington Christmas Markets and Pride in the Dales, to name but a few. We help to maintain the community allotment at the Broughton Road site in Skipton and we organise the annual District carol service in Holy Trinity Church in Skipton. We take part in the annual Remembrance Parade in Skipton and also the annual St George's Day parade, which we take our turn to arrange. We also participate in the District Swimming Gala and District 5 (or 6) a side Football Tournament.
Where possible we send people to District Camps and County events, such as the County Jamboree (Larkin) and Junior Warrior, where we get a discounted rate for our members.
If you would like to join any of our Sections as a Leader or would like to help with our Trustee Board, you can do so via the Scout website or direct to us via our email: 3rdskipton.groupscoutleader@gmail.com.
